Muddling the peace process: The political dynamics of the tsunami, aid and conflict

This chapter reviews the December 2004 tsunami, local and international responses to the disaster, and their interaction with peace and conflict dynamics in Sri Lanka. It assesses the relationships between the natural (the tsunami) and the man-made disaster (the war) that have tormented Sri Lanka as well as the responses to these two disasters. As shown in the schematic overview of Figure 11.1, this concerns a number of interrelationships.
