Transformative practices: where strategic spatial planning meets social innovation


In the introductory chapter to the book it was argued that the problems, developments, challenges and opportunities that society is facing ‘question’ traditional planning approaches, established governance discourses and strategic projects. Questioning in this context is understood with respect to the need for a transformative agenda. There is indeed ample evidence that the problems and challenges confronting society can be tackled and managed adequately neither with the neo-conservative perspective nor with the intellectual technical-legal apparatus and mindset of traditional planning.
