Founded and directed by Bjørnstjerne Christiansen, Jakob Fenger, and Rasmus Nielsen in
1993, SUPERFLEX has gained worldwide recognition for their projects, which use what the
group describe as “counter-economic strategies.” These “strategies” question systems of power
by critically examining their limitations. Graduates of the Royal Academy in Copenhagen,
the group’s practice goes beyond photography and film to include the interdisciplinary. Their
discursive practice includes, though certainly is not limited to, cartooning, graphics, manuals,
performance, publications, video documentation, and even the virtual world.
