Management of human resources

The aims of this chapter are fourfold: first, to report on the evolution of the human resource (HR) function in the Indian context; second, to highlight the key factors determining HRM policies and practices in firms operating in India; third, to highlight the nature of HRM systems prevalent in foreign firms operating in India; and lastly, to provide a list of key issues, based on our analysis, which should prove helpful for policy makers.
