ABSTRACT
Research about remembering and learning should make sense in the laboratory and in the world; when it fails to do so, there is something wrong or something incompletely understood and more work is needed. Bob Bjork’s approach to his own research and his consideration of others’ work seem to embody this principle, and his inuence in this respect was fundamental to my development as a researcher and an educator. e current emphasis on giving psychology away and making it applicable to the world is due in great part to his eorts.
