ABSTRACT
Friday night had been oppressively hot and sultry, until at 3 a.m. came a sudden violent wind and deluge of rain, flooding the upstairs verandah of our house and rousing Dorothy and me to a wet scramble, dosing the wide-flung sliding windows against the summer storm.
