ABSTRACT

In the theoretical sense, moral psychology has for decades been dominated by theories that emphasize the role of reasoning in moral judgment of adults (Eisenberg, 2000; Haidt, 2003; Kohlberg, 1982). Nevertheless, recent proposals emphasize the role of emotional and intuitive processes in human decision making. This change in perspective is the result of recent works in the field of philosophy, cognitive psychology, and neurobiology (Damasio, 1994; Haidt, 2001; Ostrosky-Solís & Veléz, 2008; Rozin, Lowery, Imada, & Haidt, 1999; Vélez & Ostrosky-Solís, 2006).
