ABSTRACT
Maybe it is our island mentality that makes us an eclectic nation generally eager to learn from other countries and other cultures. The Sure Start programme drew upon the work of Head Start and the Nurse-Family Partnership for its inspiration. Both projects are significant in that they demonstrate the importance of support early in children’s lives, most particularly where children are born into challenging circumstances.
