Introduction to the Theory and Clinical Applications of the Two-Track Model of Bereavement
I n this chapter, we enter into an in-depth consideration of the Two-Track Model of Bereavement. Our primary focus remains on clinical application, and we address theoretical and practical issues with that goal uppermost in mind. As will become clearer over the course of this chapter and the next, the structure of the model provides a degree of clarity for this field with its simultaneous focus on both biopsychosocial responses to loss and the nature of the ongoing relationship bond to the deceased. After a brief overview of background and history, we concentrate on the clinical utility of the model.
