Cognitive Therapy: Applying Imagery and Mindfulness

In this chapter we describe a CBT-REBT intervention in complicated grief using Rational Emotive Imagery incorporating elements of mindfulness (Segal, Williams, & Teasdale, 2002). Works by Linehan (1993), Kabat-Zinn (1990), and Fletcher and Hays (1995) introduced new strategies in applying CBT that emphasize awareness and paying attention to the moment along with the development of interventions that focus on positive alternatives in positive psychology (Lyubomirsky, 2008).
