ABSTRACT
My intention in this chapter is to provide an overview of issues critical to early childhood development in Southern Africa. These issues include basic concepts on early childhood development and the role of psychology in promoting children’s well-being and optimal early childhood development in the Southern African context. The early childhood development period covered in the chapter is 0-6 years.
