Neuropsychology of Hmong Americans
Laos is a Southeast Asian country roughly the size of Utah (91,400 square miles). It is bordered by Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, China, and Vietnam. Laos is an ethnically diverse country. The majority Lao live primarily in the lowlands of the country, while the other major ethnic group, the Hmong, inhabit the mountains. The Hmong are slash-and-burn farmers whose primary crops include rice, corn, and opium poppies. They live in small villages and also raise livestock such as cattle and pigs. Other minority ethnic groups are the Mon-Khmer and the Yao.
