ABSTRACT
The question about young people’s participation plays a central role in the public debate on the development of civil society, and key concepts of this are civil engagement, political participation and voluntary work. This was highlighted when the year 2001 was declared the ‘international year of volunteers’ by the UN plenary meeting.
