Whilst o¡en imprecisely dened and used, ‘Web 2.0’ can be seen as an umbrella term for a host of Internet applications such as blogging, wikis, folksonomies, virtual societies, multiplayer online gaming and ‘mash-ups’. Perhaps the most prominent and most prevalent of these applications over the past ve years has been social networking services (SNS) – especially popular commercial applications such as MySpace, Facebook, hi5, Friendster and Piczo.
