On the Actor’s Creative Process
Everything that happens onstage must be convincing. “Feelings that seem true” beget trust. “The truth of passions” begets faith. The moment of passion within the theatrical creative state, when
an actor almost forgets that he is onstage, is the moment of faith, the moment of truth. There is great truth and small truth. “I sit there pecking on the table top” is a small truth, but it is needed
Psychological, inner truth-is the great truth. Such inner truth strongly guides the life of the body. Truth is what I believe at this particular moment. When the falseness of theatrical events becomes truth for an actor-
this is stage truth.
