ABSTRACT
DpHnon-RESPC were tested by non-linear regression. Differences in performance between boys and adolescents were tested using independent t-test. Effects of age and recovery on acid base control were tested using an age group x sample time ANOVA model with tukey and independent t-tests as post hoc analyses. For all statistics, the significance level was set at p < 0.05. 19.3 RESULTS In boys pH was higher (p < 0.05) than in adolescents in all post WAnT samples. In spite of the lower amplitude of the pH response in the boys compared to the adolescents no difference in the rate constants of pH increase (0.96 + 0.17 vs. 0.75 + 0.27 min-1) and decrease (0.06 + 0.01 vs. 0.05 + 0.1 min-1) of the time of the pHminimum were found (Figure 19.1).
