Do Policymakers Want Evidence? Insights From Research-Minded Policymakers
I n this chapter we alter our perspective. We turn to one of our primary com-munities of interest-knowledge consumers. We focus on their perspectives regarding research, its value to them and the work they do. Readers may be surprised by the views of our respondents who relay positive feelings toward the rigorous analysis that belies conventional wisdom. Their views also pose a challenge: Why don’t we see more evidence of research use given respondents’ apparently positive disposition?
