Adventure education: physical exercise and health
ByJohn Kelly, Julia Potter
Pages 20

This chapter will outline how participation in adventure-based activity can contribute to improved health. It will consider the current body of knowledge, and explore how this may be used to develop interventions addressing current health-related issues. We will begin by exploring the concepts of health and fitness, then look into the factors leading to ill health in our population. There are practical suggestions for tailoring an adventure programme aimed at adults or children for whom a deficit in nature, activity and interactive exposure to these elements may be leading to poor health.
