ABSTRACT
The purpose of this chapter is to focus on the provision of on-site outdoor and adventurous activities, an area of physical education often marginalised within the curriculum.1 Ofsted (2004: 1) have provided a working definition of what constitutes outdoor education and the opportunities that can be provided for pupils in schools, linked to aspects of the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE).
