ABSTRACT

This chapter involves dialogues with key theorists whose work has influenced the discussion of theory and practice in Drama as Therapy Volumes 1 and 2. It aims to provide reflections on the relationships between different areas of theory. The authors are individuals whose work has influenced many, but in a way they are a personal choice for me in that their writing has played an especially important part in my own work. In a sense this reflects the ways in which dramatherapists make their own choices about theorists and theory which connects with their own developing practice. Authors exchanged samples of their writing with me, and discussed the relationship between their chosen extracts and the ideas in Drama as Therapy. Short excerpts are contained within this chapter, either when authors quote them, or in boxed extracts. The introduction to each dialogue links the areas that are discussed with the specific pieces of research and practice in Part 2 of this book. Hence, the coverage does not intend to be exhaustive, but represents key areas covered within the theory, research and clinical practice in this book.
