ABSTRACT
A previous visual inspection of the bridge had noted significant cracking and spalling, possibly due to corrosion of the reinforcing steel, in the tidal zones, abutments and barrier posts. It also noted significant corrosion loss of the bolts and nuts holding down the steel beams at the abutments. The scope of the investigation included:
• Review previous reports. • Conduct on site visual, non-destructive testing and
core sampling for laboratory testing.
