A practical approach for mainstreaming development dimensions in ACP–EU trade relations: key policy implications YENKONG NGANGJOH HODU AND

The primary policy lessons that can be derived from the various chapters contained in this volume are that development dimensions should be properly anchored into the Economic Partnerships Agreement (EPA) trade regimes as well as World Trade Organisation (WTO) trade rules. In this context, the exposed issues can be logically clustered into: general policy considerations for making EPAs work for the African ACP (AACP) economies; the essence of the Special Products (SP) and Special Safeguard Mechanisms (SSM); and policy provisions for the selection of SP and architecture of the SSM and regional market considerations in EPAs.
