ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter is to introduce the voice of the patient with an eating disorder. What do they think about this form of intervention? Do they notice any changes in their parents’ behaviour? Are these changes welcomed? At the present time we do not have quantitative evidence from the patients themselves to address this question. To date, however, we have obtained some qualitative feedback. We know that the patients themselves may have mixed opinions about this sort of intervention. We have heard of individuals who object to their parents attending workshops and may even act out to interfere with them going. We have heard of individuals having thrown the DVDs away before their carers have had the opportunity to watch them. In the short section that follows, we give the case report of Julie, who reflected on the intervention with her parents. Finally, we also give some examples of qualitative feedback from patients.
