ABSTRACT

In conclusion then, we end this book on collaborative caring with contributions from three individuals who have worked in various skills-based training projects. Gill Todd, a psychiatric nurse, has developed programmes for families and carers on an inpatient unit and currently delivers carers’ skills workshop training to professionals and carers and also delivers motivational interviewing training for chronic disease management. Wendy Whitaker is a senior practitioner social worker who currently runs the intensive day patient intervention for those families preparing for the transition from inpatient to outpatient care. Pam Macdonald is a carer who is now working on a PhD on the development of a skills training DVD plus telephone coaching for carers of people with eating disorders. She is also involved in delivering telephone coaching to carers, using the principles of motivational interviewing.
