ABSTRACT

How are we to do this for the child with Asperger syndrome? In recent years, in the wake of the 1978 Warnock Report and the 1981, 1993 and

1996 Education Acts, there has been a movement away from ‘labelling’ children and, therefore, from paying much attention to a child’s ‘diagnosis’ when planning intervention. The behaviourist school of thought has also promoted an emphasis on intervention at the level of observable behaviours and consequences.
