ABSTRACT

American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese www.aatsp.org AATSP, founded in 1917, “has promoted the study and teaching of Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian,

and other related languages, literatures, and cultures at all levels.” AATSP encourages not only the study of language, but also an understanding of Hispanic cultures and heritages. Th ey off er pedagogical and scholarly information about Hispanic language and culture through an academic journal, two newsletters, and various publications. Of particular interest for educators of Latino students may be the Handbook for Teachers K-16 on Spanish for Native Speakers.
