ABSTRACT
Many students have chosen the Teaching Academy as their special learning community at Carter High School. They have made this choice because it is a setting that provides them with opportunities to work cooperatively with their classmates and to pursue both academic subjects and pedagogical practices. The teachers who teach in the Academy are known for the way they work with students, particularly for the way they use cooperative learning strategies in every aspect of their teaching. Take for instance:
