ABSTRACT

Recent trends in water sector reforms across the world highlight the importance of changes to water policy and legal frameworks. On the one hand, water resource use and water conflicts – both national and international – have been the subject of extensive research. On the other hand, reforms being carried out to legal frameworks, as a crucial component of broader water sector reforms, have not received adequate attention. This book contributes to a deeper understanding of the multi-faceted water-related legal, policy, and regulatory frameworks that govern the use of water resources at local, national and international levels.
