ABSTRACT

The two preceding chapters illustrated, first, how the notion of democracy has fostered journalistic ideals of freedom and responsibility; and, second, how “truth” born of the advent of modernity and progressivism has generated journalistic uncertainty. But no idea has more confused the soul of journalism than the notion of diversity.
