ABSTRACT

This chapter examines how the news media in Russia are linked with the public’s perceptions of companies. The focus is on how corporations are presented in the news media, and these results of content analysis are compared with surveys and polls of corporate reputation and listings of corporations’ economic performance. During 2006 and 2007, Russia was among the countries with the highest economic growth rate (Sutela, 2009), but in 2008 it was hit by a fi nancial crisis; however, despite the crisis, in 2008 the real GDP growth rate was still 5.6% (World Economic Forum, 2009).
