Substance Abuse Counseling with Males in Early Adulthood (Ages 24 to 34)

Whereas 18-to 24-year-olds are described as being in a later adolescent transitional period where major life decisions are being made about work and long-term relationships, the developmental life stage of “early adulthood” is characterized by accepting these choices and fulfi lling and beginning to actualize the roles that come as a result of these decisions (Newman & Newman, 2012). In essence, in early adulthood, we begin to reap what was sown in later adolescence, and we settle in to deepening our experiences in these life roles.
