ABSTRACT
Runner: Now it is my privilege to introduce our next dissertation author, Dr. Kevin Kirkland. Kevin is another one of our presenters who earned a PhD from the University of British Columbia using an arts-based model. In fact, as I’m sure he will tell you, in this case his dissertation supervisor made the recommendation that he consider writing a form of fiction to achieve his dissertation goals. I think this shows how far ahead the Canadian universities are in contrast to most in the U.S. Kevin currently works as a music therapist for the Extended Care Unit at the UBC Hospital in Vancouver, Canada.
