Theorizing advancedness, setting up the longitudinal research agenda: Lourdes Ortega and Heidi Byrnes


As we declared in the introduction to this collection, we hope to put forth a linked claim: that there is a need for the longitudinal study of L2 development and that this need is particularly acute in the study of advanced L2 capacities. In this closing chapter we revisit this nexus by placing the project itself into the context of existing SLA discussions and by exploring additional issues the proposed focus uncovers and obstacles it may encounter.
