ABSTRACT
The concept of comorbid mental health problems and drug misuse has gained prominence in recent years. This is in part due to the closure of large psychiatric hospitals and the increasing prevalence of drug use in the community. The challenges involved in treating comorbid patients are increasingly being recognized, as are the consequences of comorbidity on crime, family relationships, self-harm, homelessness, poor medication compliance and re-hospitalization.
