ABSTRACT

As diagrammed in Figure 5.1, the two systems and their specic categories interact and co-relate. Rather than being a true sequence or step-system, it is more of a “relay system,” with each aspect inuencing and supporting the other. e conceptualization of this particular system attempts to reveal a moving, owing relationship rather than cause and eect. Given the potential scope of this BASCICS system it has been necessary to focus only on the fundamentals for each area indicated. Furthermore, the system makes use of case examples and describes techniques suitable for adult psychiatric inpatients and outpatients. However, it is adaptable for use within a wide diagnostic range and for most age categories.
