ABSTRACT

Traditionally, data presented about concert halls consisted of its size and reverberation time plus a plan and long section. In some cases, this may be adequate: a rectangular hall with a respectable reverberation time and sound scattering walls is likely to have predictable acoustic characteristics. But for the majority of halls, this limited data is far from sufficient. With at least five subjective dimensions, one objective acoustic quantity will not suffice, while the effect of form and size on the acoustics is rarely direct.
