ABSTRACT
This set of discussions of individual theories highlights the diversity of current attempts to theorize religion. The evaluations range from solid endorsements through critical dissent to philosophical refutations. I will not lend my editorial voice to pronounce a verdict on the validity of any single theory among those considered in this book, but rather address some issues that may serve to put the various theories in a comparative perspective.
