ABSTRACT

Though Brazil has undergone heavy socio-economic changes in the past 50 years, it remains a country with gender divides. Women have steadily entered the workforce and now contribute significantly to the country’s economy. Women have made an impact in almost all professions in the public sphere that have previously been held by men, in sharp contrast to men who have yet to engage in the private sphere. Although women’s presence in the workforce signals a change in Brazil’s social structure, Brazil is still a country with strong traces of machismo.
