Pages 15

Th is chapter recounts the experience of a National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) regional staff and its work with teachers participating in Teaching American History (TAH) grant-funded research. Th e main goal of the chapter is to familiarize teachers with archival thinking, theory, and practice. In other words, to give them the map they need to fi nd the research gold described by the teacher quoted above, along with the tools to mine it. A secondary goal is to give archivists who will work with teachers an idea of the challenges they may face.
