ABSTRACT
The suspended ground fl oor slab consists of precast concrete planks spanning between the strip foundations and resting on a bed of engineering bricks. The planks are covered with a layer of screed, followed by insulation, screed where the underfl oor heating pipes are buried, and fi nally the fl oor fi nish. This is either a timber fi nish or a carpet/linoleum one depending on room use. These two fi nishes give slightly different U-values; 0.38 W/m2K and 0.37 W/m2K respectively.
