ABSTRACT

Schlomo Sigmund Freud was born on May 6, 1856, named after his paternal grandfather who had died three months before. Sigmund was born when his father Jacob was mourning his own father. Identifying with his prestigious grandfather, Sigmund Freud developed intense creativity, as described by Alain de Mijolla in his paper on identification and family prehistory (1987). De Mijolla demonstrates the strong identifications with the Oedipal objects of the parents that can come about.
