ABSTRACT

New York City was the center of social work practice with groups in the fall of 2002, when approximately 500 people joined together to look at how “Thinking Group” could serve as a way of addressing the strength and diversity in social work with groups: this was the 24th Annual International Symposium of the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups (AASWG), held at the Brooklyn Marriott Hotel. The Symposium was an experience of thinking, living, and learning in groups. The three-day Symposium included over 170 exciting presentations, including mobilizing addresses, dynamic workshops, intriguing papers, interactive panels, exciting displays and many opportunities for networking and discussion, conducted by over 250 presenters and chairpersons.
