Between leisure and productivity: A water management project for the central coast of Chile

In spite of the polarization of foreign tourism, the central coast of Chile receives a significant amount of domestic visitors throughout the year (Figure 3) and particularly during the summer holidays, which is reflected in the number of hotels and “available beds” in the area. Particularly the region of Valparaiso, due to its proximity to the capital city, has experienced intense urbanisation in the last decades.
