O ne of the core aspects of the human self is that of being experienced and perceived as temporally extended, as a singularity that moves across time (James, 1890/1981; Neisser, 1988). In some fundamental respects, and beyond obvious physical and psychological transformations, the person I am now is the same person that I was in the past and will be in the future.
