ABSTRACT

Chinese people attach great importance to the family. So far, life without a family is still considered abnormal. Relations in a Chinese family are generally stable as people believe there should be harmony and intimacy between members of a family. . . . In the old days, people talked highly of extended families with four or five generations living under one roof. Nowadays, the size of the family has become smaller, mostly having three to four members today. At home, husbands share in household chores, a practice seen as a modern virtue.
