ABSTRACT

Human behavior is an incredibly complicated phenomenon. Indeed, it is arguably one of the most complicated topics that science has tried to understand and explain. Many factors and variables influence human behavior and identifying all of the various sources of influence is quite difficult. Therefore, it is not surprising that different disciplines are devoted to the study of human behavior. Human sexual behavior is no different. In Chapter 1, various perspectives were discussed that shape the study of human sexual behavior. These perspectives cross several different disciplines including the biological, psychosocial, behavioral, clinical, and sociological, with an emphasis on anthropological factors in the explanation of sexual behavior. All of these perspectives are important to developing a thorough understanding of the various forces and factors that influence sexual behavior and the many different viewpoints that must be considered.
