ABSTRACT

The chapters in this volume have discussed some of the most recent, stateof-the-science thinking in teams, and, clearly, team effectiveness research has progressed in leaps and bounds over the last decade. Much has been learned and applied to the composition, management, and direction of teams in organizations, but the journey is never complete. As the world continually changes and adapts, the functioning of teams in organizations also changes and new areas of research interest emerge. In this final chapter, we submit 10 critical questions in team research that we believe still remain unanswered and are in need of deeper exploration. Although these 10 questions clearly do not encompass the full extent of research avenues left to explore, they function as a point of departure to stimulate new undertakings in what we believe to be the most critical concepts for future team research.
