Lower extremity injuries

Lower-extremity injuries are significant, given the important role of the lower extremities in walking, running, and jumping. Representative injuries are presented in this chapter for the major lower-extremity joints (hip, knee, and ankle) and the segments spanning those joints (thigh, lower leg, and foot), with emphasis on mechanisms of injury.
