ABSTRACT

Casting is about choosing the right actors for the play and the right actors for your rehearsal process. If you cast an actor who is right for the part but who will not undertake your process, you may waste valuable time in repeated conflicts about working methodology, meaning that the actors who want to work in your process will be caught in the crossfire. The result will be a production where the actors do not inhabit the same world. On the other hand, if you work with an actor who is absolutely willing to work alongside you but cannot possibly deliver the character, everyone will be in the same world but one person will not be believable. Try to get a balance.
