ABSTRACT

This book addresses one of the most significant questions in international strategic studies today: How to meet the challenge of a rising China? In recent years, there have been significant debates about the rise of China and its implications for international relations. One of the key issues is whether China’s rapid rise will be peaceful or disruptive to the existing international order. In this volume, a group of scholars with expertise in international relations and Asian studies join the debate to examine the strategic, military, economic, and political challenges corresponding to the rise of China. We examine both the contending theoretical understanding of and the various global responses to the China challenge.
